Council to motion for hearing on Fluff liquor license request

Athens City Council will meet tonight at 7 p.m. at Athens City Hall, 8. E. Washington St., to discuss a variety of ordinances and put forth a motion to request a public hearing regarding Fluff Bakery's possible liquor license.

The motion to request a hearing was discussed at last week's meeting after a series of residents made clear to council members that they didn't approve of Fluff's possible liquor license. Fluff owners said that the license will be used to expand the bakery in to a restaurant.

Also on the agenda, Councilwoman Chris Knisely, D-at large, will discuss changes being made to the 2014 appropriation ordinance and the partnership the city has agreed to make with Athens County and Neslsonville when applying for a Community Development Block Grant later this spring.

Mayor Paul Wiehl will also present on an application the city will file for a drug-use prevention grant from the Ohio Attorney General's office that would be used for fiscal years 2014 and 2015.
