Ohio University’s Student Senate will host top OU administrators for the second time in a row this semester Wednesday.
OU President Roderick McDavis will attend this week’s meeting, and he plans to speak about affordability initiatives and the ongoing selection of a new student trustee. McDavis’ visit will follow talks from Vice President for Finance and Administration Stephen Golding and Vice Provost for Enrollment Management Craig Cornell about the guaranteed tuition model last week.
Student trustee applications were due Friday after the deadline had been extended. Eight students have applied, with seven from the Athens campus and one from the Zanesville campus.
The student trustee will be announced at the 31st Annual Leadership Awards Gala on April 2.
Student Senate President Anna Morton said that McDavis also spoke to senate last semester, and having him come in now will be preparation for the upcoming Board of Trustees meeting in March.
“I look forward to engaging with student leaders on several issues of importance at this week’s Student Senate meeting,” McDavis said in a statement.
Morton also plans to have Golding and Executive Vice President and Provost Pam Benoit speak with senate members before the board meeting.
In addition, Tasha Attaway, OU communications specialist, will attend Wednesday night’s meeting to introduce her committee to the senate body and discuss development of a centralized calendar.
McDavis will also attend a Bobcat Coffee Hour on Thursday and hopes for “continued, meaningful dialogue on these and other topics of interest to our university community.”
