An Athens man was sentenced to prison Wednesday after pleading guilty to an indictment charging domestic violence and burglary.
Trevor Lee, 21, appeared for his sentencing hearing in the Athens County Common Pleas Court after changing his plea to guilty in November of one count of burglary, one count of disrupting public services and one count of assault.
The charges are felonies of the third and fourth degree and a misdemeanor of the first degree, respectively, according to the Ohio Revised Code.
“On Sept. 8, Lee did enter a residence on Carriage Hill, broke the resident’s cell phone so that she could not call for help and pushed her up against a wall,”
Blackburn said in a news release from his office.
According to the release, the victim was his girlfriend who he assaulted after a domestic dispute. The Carriage Hill apartment complex is located near the Ohio University campus.
Lee is not listed as an OU student and it was not immediately clear whether the victim was affiliated with the university.
Since changing his plea, the court ordered random drug and alcohol monitoring, according to court documents.
Judge L. Alan Goldsberry sentenced Lee to 18 months in prison and five years of community control upon his release. He has been incarcerated in the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail since Sept. 9, according to booking documents, on a $25,000 bond.
