A search warrant issued last month gave local law enforcement the authority to enter an Athens man’s home and pull samples of his DNA because of information from the 16-year-old girl he is accused of prostituting, authorities said.??
Now they’re waiting on the state’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification to get the DNA test results back.??
Athens County Sheriff Pat Kelly’s office executed the search warrant for Fred Kittle Sr.’s Rocky Point Road home and got a mouth swab from him to compare to a DNA sample from a sexual assault kit collected at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital, according to court documents.??
The victim, during an interview with the sheriff’s department, stated that Kittle, 69, had sex with her in the residence, according to the documents.??
Kittle, a registered sex offender in Athens County, allegedly had a deal with Glouster resident Aileen Mays to have sex with the minor in exchange for money and prescription narcotics.?
Essentially, Mays is accused of trafficking the 16-year-old girl for Kittle.
Mays, 27, “told deputies she had received drugs in exchange for the 16-year old-girl performing sex acts with Kittle,” according to a news release from Kelly’s office.
However, she pleaded not guilty when she was arraigned in court last month to an indictment charging three counts of compelling prostitution and one count of trafficking in persons.
The case was investigated by deputies from Kelly’s office after caseworkers from Athens County Children Services received a tip that a teenage girl was being used as a prostitute at a Rocky Point Road home in exchange for money and drugs.
The girl had been in the initial care of Children Services directly following the incident, according to information from Kelly.
The victim’s name does not seem to appear in court documents viewed by The Post, which does not print the names of victims of sexual assault.
Kittle was initially charged with compelling prostitution and importuning, felonies of the third and fifth degrees respectively. Those charges were dismissed in the Athens County Municipal Court on Sept. 28.
Athens County Prosecutor Keller Blackburn’s office is currently investigating.
Mays will appear in Athens County Court Common Pleas Court Monday for a pretrial hearing and is scheduled for a jury trial Dec. 3, according to court documents, which do not list any hearing dates for Kittle at this time, as his case remains under investigation.
