Streaming sites satisfy pop culture cravings

A few days ago, I reblogged a text post on Tumblr that said, “I’m so boring if I had the power to stop time, I’d probably just catch up on TV shows.”

You might laugh at that, but if we’re going to be real here, that’s the complete and honest truth.

My lists of “TV shows I watch” and “TV shows I want to watch” are always growing, and as a human being, there aren’t enough hours in the day to do my work and watch my shows.

I’m so far behind on shows that I still have never seen an episode of Breaking Bad.

Blasphemous, right?

I’m also just now working my way through Game of Thrones. The third season is devastating, I know.

And those are just two of the shows I couldn’t keep up with. Now, although I might be behind on some quality TV, this is where the wonderful creations of Netflix and Hulu come into play.

These glorious online media streaming websites provide me with endless possibilities of shows to watch.

Each website has its own sets of pros and cons.

Netflix pro: Better movies, i.e., Disney!

Netflix con: Current television series are a no-go.

Hulu pro: Current television shows a few hours after they air on TV.

Hulu con: Very few complete seasons.

In the end though, I can’t choose which website I’d rather use. Each one serves its purpose gloriously, and I couldn’t be happier with my options.

So you see, as a pop culture-obsessed lover of television, when I choose to stay in on a weekend to order Avalanche and watch Parks and Recreation, I’m doing it because I want to.

I’ll be social on most days, but to me, nothing beats curling up on the couch with a cup of tea and favorite shows playing on the TV after a long week of classes and responsibilities.

That’s the gospel truth.
