A man from The Plains appeared in the Athens County Court of Common Pleas for the purpose of a change of plea and sentencing hearing regarding three drug charges.
Joshua Manering, 35, changed his plea to “guilty” of two indictments of escape, or fleeing from the police, which is a felony of the fifth degree.
He was convicted of illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs, a second-degree felony and aggravated possession of drugs including heroin, both fifth degree felonies, according to the Ohio Revised Code.
Manering will have to pay a $12,500 fine and have his license suspended for four years. He also will be required to complete three years of parole after his imprisonment, according to court documents.
Judge George P. McCarthy sentenced Manering to a total of six years in prison.
