Man pleads guilty to 5th-degree felonies

A Coolville man appeared before Judge L. Alan Goldsberry Thursday for a change of plea hearing regarding a breaking and entering charge.

Tony Alan Hedges, 31, pleaded guilty to breaking and entering, receiving stolen property and attempted theft from an elderly or disabled person — all of which are fifth-degree felonies, according to the Ohio Revised Code.

“On Sept. 10, 2012, Hedges did enter the property of another individual and attempted to remove items without permission, during which time he was found to be driving a stolen ATV as well,” Athens County Prosecutor Keller Blackburn stated in a press release. “On May 8, Hedges did sell a stolen concrete saw and Echo gas powered drill to another individual.”

Hedges will start his sentence at the Ohio Correctional Reception Center and be moved based on the State Penal System’s decision, Blackburn said, but it is not yet known where he will be moved.

Goldsberry sentenced Hedges to four years in prison, according to an Athens County Prosecutor’s Office news release.
