Welcome back to campus — and welcome to Page 2 of The Post!
Page 2, or the Opinion Page, is essentially your page. The Opinion Page is well… just that: a page full of opinions from people just like you, whether you are a student, a professor, a townie or a cat.
(OK, I lied: no cats.)
This will serve as a place for you to get your voice out to anybody in the area and beyond who reads our newspaper or website. The page also stands as a place for Post columns that are written by students—and, if you’re a student, potentially you.
The executive editors at The Post will try to make sure that there is an equal balance of serious and fun columns from a wide array of different columnists from various backgrounds who will write about all sorts of different things.
Humor, food, politics and more will all grace this page, so be on the lookout for which of our columnists will catch your eye.
Angry about tuition? Write us a letter. Think the graffiti around town is atrocious? Write us a letter. This page is here to be your sounding box—but even though we love your opinions, please keep them under 500 words.
Page 2 wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for you. So please, if you have something on your mind, have something to say or want to work as a columnist, reach out to us! We’re always listening (Yep, we were even listening that one time you said… You know what, never mind. We’ll keep that between us).
How can you send us your thoughts? Well, there are actually a number of ways. You can stop by our windowless newsroom at 325 Baker University Center and ask for Brandon (that’s me). If you are too shy to say hi, just email me at posteditorial@ohiou.edu. If you would prefer to snail mail something, feel free to do that to 325 Baker University Center, Athens, OH 45701.
We also have a Facebook, Twitter account and a “work for us” page on our website.
From time to time on this page you’ll also find editorials, cartoons and “Between the Lines,” or miscellaneous columns of sorts from various Post staffers, mixed in with your opinions.
All editorials will be written by The Post’s executive staff, which comprises Editor-in-Chief Ryan Clark, Managing Editor Nicolien Buholzer, Assistant Managing Editor Jim Ryan and Associate Editor Myself (a.k.a. Brandon Carte).
Your feedback is always welcome and necessary for our success, so please feel free to comment, share, retweet or whatever it is the kids are doing these days.
Thanks, and go Bobcats!
Brandon Carte is a junior studying journalism and the associate editor of The Post. Get your voice heard by emailing him at bc822010@ohiou.edu or
