TV: And the 2013 Emmy nominees are...

By Meryl Gottlieb| mg986611@ohiou.edu| @buzzlightmeryl

The Emmys will air Sunday, Sept. 22 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles

Nominations for the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced Thursday by Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul and How I Met Your Mother/ host Neil Patrick Harris.

American Horror Story scored the most nominations of anyone, earning 17 total while Game of Thrones followed with 16. 30 Rock's final season received 13 total nominations, followed by Modern Family's 12 and The Big Bang Theory's eight.

I could go on a rant about how annoying it is that Hannibal and Happy Endings were both snubbed entirely, and I could make you read a 1,000 word essay as to why the Academy is not always right, but I won't because you probably won't read it. But let me know if you will because I'm happy to be of service. Other snubs that need mentioned go to Adam Scott and Nick Offerman for Parks and Recreation. I mean how funny do you have to be to get a nom? Not to mention the fact that the show itself didn't even get a nom for Outstanding Comedy Series. Blerg! Can we also mention how annoying it is that Modern Family continues to take all of the supporting actor/ actress noms away from other viable shows. And from what I read, it is a huge injustice for Tatiana Maslany to not receive a nom for her work on Orphan Black. And let us question as to why Jane Lynch received a nom for Glee when her character has not been up to par since season one. That nom should have gone to Casey Wilson for Happy Endings or just about anyone else.

While there are a ton of snubs to go around, let's take a moment to rejoice in the nominations the Academy got right! Congrats to the always funny Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin for their noms in 30 Rock's final run. A big shout out to Jason Bateman for getting Arrested Development a taste of what it has deserved all along. I jumped for joy when Kerry Washington was recognized for her incredible talent on Scandal and could not be happier about Jessica Lange's second nomination for her fantastic work in American Horror Story. Not to mention my love, Zachary Quinto, also received a nom for his chilling turn as the villain in AHS as well.
