The Ohio women's golf team ended its fall season Tuesday afternoon. The team shot a season-low score of 605 for the Dayton Fall Invitational and finished third out of 17 other schools.
Freshman Angela Codian relinquished first place after firing a 68 to lead the tournament’s first round. She said she had some shots that she would have liked to have back as she carded a 73 and finished second individually.
"I could have done a couple shots better," Codian said. "But I am satisfied with how I played overall. I am happy for our team, our best finish of the year."
The Bobcats next best finisher was senior Sarah Tranelli, who posted a 75, and finished 14th. Tranelli said she was happy with her performance and looks to carry that over into the spring schedule.
"I am very excited, especially playing so well myself this tournament. I am looking forward to finishing my career on a high note in the spring," Tranelli said.
Sophomore Julie Lechner shot 78 in both rounds and finished in a tie for 27th.
Junior Kristen Helmsdoerfer had two birdies back-to-back and cut nine strokes off her first round score of 86 to end the second round with a total of 163, tying for 59th. Helmsdoerfer said she liked the improvement she saw in her game but still wanted to finish higher than she did.
"I did so much better today but I'm still disappointed in my finish. I am very proud of my team today and we'll definitely use this as momentum for the offseason and next season, too," Helmsdoerfer said.
