If it hadn’t before, Ohio found its way the national spotlight Sunday by appearing in the Bowl Championship Series poll.
The Bobcats captured the nation's attention by defeating Penn State and continued to garner more votes with each passing victory but the attention outside of Athens was fleeting.
For the first time in program history, the Bobcats will appear on sports and news tickers with numbers next to their name, as they have cracked BCS Top 25 at No. 24.
Ohio also jumped two notches to No. 23 in the Associated Press poll and holds the No. 23 spot in the USA Today/Coaches poll, which also was released Sunday.
During the bye week last week, Ohio coach Frank Solich spent a few days recruiting and said the team's most recent ranking, then No. 25 in the AP poll, is a nice recruiting tool, and that the Bobcats will have to continue to generate results to back the ranking.
Each game remaining on Ohio's remaining Mid-American Conference slate is of the utmost importance, as the Bobcats have a bigger target on their back than ever before.
Ohio travels to Yager Stadium to square with Miami for the 88th installment of the "Battle for the Bricks” Saturday.
