Ohio suffered its third straight loss Friday at the hands of DePaul in the windy city of Chicago. For the second time in their young season, the Bobcats failed to net a goal, falling 3-0.
Junior keeper Mattie Liston etched her name in the Bobcat record books in the second half, recording her 200th career save. Only three other Bobcat players have accumulated as many saves in their respective careers.
DePaul cracked Ohio early in the game and never looked back. The Blue Demons scored two goals in the span of eight minutes in the first half, occurring at the 20 and 28 minute marks, respectively.
They added their third goal with two seconds left in the first half. At halftime, DePaul had more than three times as many shots as Ohio, and more than half of DePaul’s 16 shots were on goal.
Liston was forced to make four saves in the half, and finished the match with ten stops.
Ohio shored its defensive play in the second half, but the Blue Demons’ damage was already done. DePaul ended the game with 26 total shots, 13 of which were on goal. Ohio accumulated seven total shots on goal in the match.
Ohio will host Marshall Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in its home opener.
