Women's Golf: Ohio improves four strokes to finish in 12th place in the 2012 University of Cincinnati Spring Invitational

The Ohio women’s golf team showed improvement during the University of Cincinnati Spring Invitational this weekend, as it finished with its second-best three-round score of the season.

Ohio placed 16th out of 19 teams after the first day of competition but improved three spots on Saturday.

Senior Megan Weaver and sophomore Kara Brinkmann both improved on their previous outings. Sophomore Kristin Helmsdoerfer equaled her Friday round, posting an 80.

On Sunday, the Bobcats moved up to 12th place and finished with a team score of 949.

Weaver finished the tournament tied for 13th place with a three-round score of 228.

Brinkmann was not far behind, finishing tied for 18th place at 229.

Ohio finished the tournament eight strokes behind 11th place. Host team, Cincinnati, finished tied for ninth place with Seton Hall.

Florida International won the invitational, posting a team score of 878.  The nearest competitor, Stetson, was 24 strokes behind the Panthers.

The Bobcats will return to the links April 1 and 2, when they participate in the Spring Challenge Cup.
