The Ohio University football team will be honored at the Ohio Statehouse Tuesday for its accomplishments during the 2011 season.
Coach Frank Solich, Director of Athletics Jim Schaus and OU President Roderick McDavis will be among those in attendance, said Alex Lapso, administrative assistant to Ohio Sen. Troy Balderson (R-20th) and an OU graduate.
"We actually drafted a resolution honoring the OU Bobcats for their first-ever bowl win," Lapso said.
Balderson, who attended an OU Student Senate meeting Jan. 11, will introduce the resolution Tuesday when university officials visit the Statehouse.
Lapso said some team members might attend the event, but the entire roster likely will not travel to Columbus because of scheduling conflicts with classes.
Ohio won the 2011 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl Dec. 17 in Boise, Idaho. That capped the team's first 10-win season since 1968 and marked its first postseason win of any kind.
More details about the visit will be available later in the week. Check back with The Post for updates.
