Former Bobcat great Gary Trent will be honored by Ohio University for his stellar Bobcat career. His jersey will now hang high in the rafters above the Convocation Center.
The announcement from the athletic department came Wednesday. His No. 20 jersey will join the ranks of Frank Baumholtz, Dave Jamerson and Walter Luckett, as well as coach Jim Snyder’s banner.
He is one of the Mid-American Conference’s greatest players and earned the nickname “Shaq of the MAC” for his dominant inside performance. He is the only player to earn the MAC Player of the Year award three years in a row.
Trent will be honored on “Gary Trent Day” Jan. 21 against rival Miami. Ohio Athletics is offering special ticket prices.
