A Ph.D. candidate from University of California Los Angeles will be exposing a whole new side of film to listeners tomorrow at a Brown Bag Lunch and Learn in Baker University Center tomorrow at noon.
Loran Marsan, a Ph.D. candidate in the Women's Studies Department at UCLA, will be presenting on the portrayal of men in drag in John Waters' films.
Marsan has recently been researching racial and ethnic drag in film history, according to UCLA's webpage.
Susanne Dietzel, director of the Women's Center at Ohio University, invited Marsan to present her lecture. This presentation fits very well into the theme of lectures the Center has tried to provide, Dietzel said.
Marsan will be focusing especially on aspects of performances in earlier John Waters films, Dietzel said.
“I want students to have a fun experience and to be exposed to films they otherwise wouldn't have been exposed to,” Dietzel said.
Marsan's lecture will take place from 12 p.m. - 1 p.m. in Room 403 in Baker University Center.
