A woman riding her bike in front of South Beach was hit by a car today.
The driver of the silver Honda Accord, Michael Balch, said he was driving his vehicle southbound on Stewart Street in front of South Beach. When he turned onto Race Street toward Nelson Dining Hall he hit the bicyclist.
Balch works at Shively Dining Hall, but does not attend Ohio University.
“I didn’t see her until she was at my right, front headlight,” Balch said.
Balch said he was not sure how significant the bicyclist’s injuries are, but she might have a broken her leg.
Athens County Emergency Medical Services took the woman to O’Bleness Memorial Hospital.
Ohio University Police officers on scene were unable to comment, but said the report would be released tomorrow morning.
