Men's Golf: Bobcats prepared for MAC Championships

With the end of the season approaching this weekend, the Bobcats will try

to avenge the inconstancies and poor weather that has caused rough performances in the previous weeks.

This weekend, the Bobcats will be traveling to TPC Rivers Bend in Mason, Ohio, for the Mid-American Championships.

The team will consist of junior Paul Grauer, sophomore Byron Firestone, freshman Connor Coldwater, sophomore Brad Lucas, and a final golfer who had not been named yet.

After last weekend’s Boilermaker Invitational coach Bob Cooley said his squad would be working on its short game and play into the wind during this final week of practice.

The Bobcats finished with a very strong final round last weekend with four of five golfers shooting under 80. They hoped to carry the momentum from that to this weekend’s championships.

Grauer has been a strong performer for the Bobcats all season and will be looking to have his strongest performance of the season this weekend. Firestone, Lucas and Coldwater have also shown improvements and could have a solid outing at Rivers Bend.

The Bobcats have had their struggles, but with their improvement, Ohio could surprise if it is able to find its swing this weekend. The tournament will start on Friday and commence by Sunday.

Cooley could not be reached for further comment.
