After the Ohio House of Representatives made revisions to Senate Bill 5, which limits collective bargaining rights for public sector unions, the substitute bill passed in the house today by nine votes.
House Republicans restored some collective bargaining rights through changes to the original senate bill, such as allowing unions to bargain for necessary safety equipment. The original bill still allowed for unions to bargain salaries.
With republicans outnumbering democrats in the house 59-40, the bill passed 53-44 at the statehouse.
After the Ohio Senate votes on the revisions made to the bill, the bill will be sent to Gov. John Kasich for approval.
