A little more than a year after its opening, Athens’ newest bar may have poured its last round of shots.
An eviction notice was posted on the front door of 12 East, a bar located at 12 E. Carpenter St., Wednesday. The note informs owner Thom DeBeck that he has until March 7 to vacate the property.
DeBeck opened the bar in December 2009, leasing the property from Athens resident Homer C. Dorman.
Neither DeBeck nor Dorman could be reached for comment.
Director of Athens Code Enforcement John Paszke said the eviction notice came from Dorman, the landlord, and that the city is not involved.
“It’s a matter between a property owner and the bar owner,” Paszke said.
Local attorney Ken Ryan is listed on the eviction notice, but he could not be reached for comment yesterday.
