With the first exhibition game just days after the season's first practice, and the second exhibition coming 14 days later, Ohio coach Lynn Bria was a bit skeptical.
After two weeks of intense practice, however, the preseason schedule is beginning to grow on her.
At first
I didn't think I would like it because we played the first game so early Bria said. But I've ended up really liking that and I think it's going to benefit us.
The Bobcat women's basketball team takes the floor tomorrow afternoon against the Ohio Girls Basketball Magazine Legends in the final tune-up before the regular season opener versus Ohio State on Nov. 21.
The two weeks really allows us to correct some things that we learned
and we have another week before we play another game
Bria said. I really like the timing of our games
and where we placed them.
From a player standpoint, the schedule has allowed for some learning, said forward Erin Isbell.
We can watch film
we can see what we did wrong
Isbell said. It gives us something to look at and know what we have to work with and what we need to get better on.
Ohio dropped an 82-63 decision two weeks ago at the hands of Athletes in Action, a talented group of former collegiate players.
We got to see right away what we needed to work on against a very good team
Bria said. Athletes in Action is a good team
and I like that. I didn't want to play a poor opponent right away because I think you get a false sense of where you really are.
It became apparent after allowing 51 second-half points that the Bobcats needed to use the extended break to work on their defense.
