Volleyball celebrates achievements of seniors

Ohio volleyball seniors Lindsay Judice and Laura Hageman will say goodbye to The Convo for the final time this weekend.

Saturday marks senior night and the last home match for two players who have left their imprint on Ohio volleyball.

They both stepped up in a lot of different ways

Ohio coach Geoff Carlston said. I think the ways I'm most proud of is in terms of their leadership and their actions and how they've gone about things. They've stepped up and taken control of the ship in a lot of ways.

With a career-win record nearing 80 matches and the possibility of more to look forward to, the seniors both admitted not thinking too much about the end because of the team's intense focus on what could lay ahead - mainly the Mid-American Conference and NCAA Tournaments. But when prodded a little more, Judice said her time spent as a Bobcat helped her become goal-oriented.

It's made me a better person Judice said. It's taught me to see my goal whatever goal that is

and to do everything possible to reach that goal. Especially this year

with us working so hard and achieving some of our goals so far

it's been such a rewarding experience.

So much has been made about goal setting and being comfortable working as a unit, it is no surprise that both Judice and Hageman said they were going to miss the camaraderie shared with teammates.

It's more than a team

they're my sisters

Judice said.

The group of sisters has shared high points - knocking off No.23 Missouri - and low points - losing to Akron last weekend. All those times, Hageman said, and the events still to come are ones to remember after the season is over.

I think that it's awesome to go out with a bang

winning the MAC and hopefully winning the MAC Tournament too and going to the NCAAs

she said. It's been an awesome season

and I think I'll take away being a leader
