The Dresher sewer project, scheduled to be completed two months ago, was a point of contention yesterday at the Athens County Commissioners meeting.
Commissioner Mark Sullivan called the situation a headache.
Portsmouth General Construction, the contractor on the project, still has not completed the project despite sewer lines and paving that was done two months ago.
(Portsmouth) didn't want to do the job
Sullivan said.
The commissioners sent a letter of intent to terminate the contract to Portsmouth General Construction in October.
After receiving no response, the commissioners then sent another letter through certified mail, this one informing Portsmouth General Construction a new contractor would be hired to complete the project.
Portsmouth General Construction received the letter Monday. Their workers were on the project Tuesday.
Hopefully we'll have this done soon Sullivan said.
In other news, the commissioners will close the Athens County Courthouse Nov. 28, the day after Thanksgiving.
