University computer sale begins Tuesday

Marked with $100 price tags, about 1,800 former Ohio University residence hall computers, Gateway E-1400s, will go on sale tomorrow. The sale will run through Friday and is open to all registered OU students.

One computer per person will be distributed to students with IDs on a first-come, first-serve basis from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. They include only the CPU and not the monitor, keyboard or mouse, Director of Property Management Gary Dicken said. However, if students need a keyboard or mouse, they may pick up used ones with their computers at no extra cost.

Karen Deardorff, campus services director of communications, said this is the second year OU has run the student computer sales after upgrading the residence hall computers over the summer. The $100 price was decided last year with the intention of keeping the cost manageable.

The University really isn't making money off of them

she said. We have them at a price that's fair to students.

The sale will take place at 751 W. Union St. Cash and checks will be accepted. 17
