As of yesterday afternoon, the results of an autopsy on Rachael Townsend, an Ohio University recreation and sports sciences instructor, are still pending, according to the Cook County medical examiner.
Townsend collapsed 100 feet beyond the finish line at the 26th annual Chicago Marathon and was pronounced dead at 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 12.
No timetable has been set for Townsend's husband, OU men's assistant basketball coach Brian Townsend, to return to the team, OU men's basketball coach Tim O'Shea said.
He comes back whenever he's ready to come back
O'Shea said.
There will be some type of remembrance in Athens, but a time and location have not yet been finalized, O'Shea said.
The funeral for Townsend will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18, at Springfield Funeral Home in Kelowna, British Columbia, her hometown.
A memorial service will also be held Wednesday, Oct. 22 at Saline High School in Saline, Mich. next week, the high school where she taught before moving to Athens. No time has been announced for the service. 17
