The Senior Class Council already has met to formulate ideas for its end-of-the-year contribution to Ohio University.
Senior Class President Ryan Mick said the council hopes to generate a more varied and creative selection of possible ideas this year.
One idea involves a local artist painting a mural on campus, preferably in a large classroom building, throughout the course of a week. While it is being painted, students can drop off their own messages for the artist to incorporate into the mural.
The ideas of endowing a scholarship, buying a collection of books for the library and securing a new 2004 lounge in Baker Center also have been discussed. Commemorating a spot on College Green in honor of the bicentennial was another idea.
Mick said these were only a few suggestions, and that the council is leaving a lot of room this year for seniors to voice their opinions. The council is looking for common, specific interests throughout the class that should be considered in deciding on the gift.
We are going to be going to tier three classes to see what actual seniors are thinking
he said.
The data from the surveys will be collected over the next few weeks.
