Fall fraternity recruitment begins Sept. 23, with all 16 of the Ohio University Interfraternity Council fraternity chapters gathering in the Baker University Center Ballroom to meet potential members.
The event will be at 7 p.m. and last until 9 p.m. Students interested in joining a fraternity must visit the ballroom sometime within the two-hour time span. Business casual dress is appropriate.
During the week of Sept. 29, fraternities will hold informal recruitment. The fraternities will keep their doors open from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., offering prospective members a glimpse inside fraternity life within the houses.
Up until this year, interested students were required to visit every chapter house during fall recruitment. Now they can visit as many or as few houses as they want.
"The way we are doing things this year makes it a lot easier than in the past," said Mark Ondrejech, IFC president. "The IFC executives used to take [prospective members] to all the houses, but this way everyone is in one room so they can get a feel for what each chapter is all about. It makes it a lot easier. Then we turn them loose Monday and they use their information to figure out what they want to do."
