Nelsonville residents can prepare to say goodbye to cones and barrels that have been occupying U.S. Route 33.
A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place Monday to mark the reopening of two-way traffic on U.S. Route 33, also known as Canal Street, through Nelsonville. The ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Canal and Fulton Street intersection at Nelson Commons, said Stephanie Filson Ohio Department of Transportation district 10 spokeswoman.
The $6 million project began March 3 and was scheduled to be completed October 15. Filson said the project was an incentive/disincentive project. The contractor, Complete General Construction, would receive a monetary bonus if the project was finished ahead of schedule but would lose money if it finished late.
