The community-service program at the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine is working with local health professionals to provide athletic physicals and camp physicals for area children.
The physicals, which require an advance appointment, will take place in Parks Hall this Saturday, July 19 from 9 am to 1 pm for the cost of $20 said Cathy Brooks, administrative assistant for OU-COM.
For those children receiving sports physicals, forms will be provided. But those who need physicals for camp will need to have their camp forms with them, she said.
Brooks said immunizations will also be offered at no extra charge at the time of the physical. Immunization records are required for this service.
If anyone under 18 is sent without a parent or guardian, a permission slip is required for physicals and immunization and for what types of immunization are allowed.
Check in for the physicals will take place on the first floor of Parks Hall, only cash or checks will be accepted for the physicals, Brooks said.
OU-COM officials say that children should be prepared for physicals by wearing loose fitting shirt and shorts. To schedule an appointment at the clinic call (740) 593-2432 or 1-800-844-2654.
