U.S. Sen. George Voinovich, R-Ohio, visited Athens April 4 to discuss chances for economic growth for the Appalachian Regional Commission.
Voinovich said his goal is to obtain $88 million in funding for the commission. Currently it is slated to get $33.1 million in federal funding. The Appalachian Regional Commission is a federal-state partnership that works with Appalachian people to create opportunities for economic development.
