Athens officials investigating the March 9 homicide of an Ohio University senior said they disagree with the way the investigation is being portrayed in a local media outlet.
Athens Police Chief Richard Mayer said he disputes statements made by Athens County Prosecutor C. David Warren in a local media source on April 3 regarding the shooting.
But Warren said he felt his statements were misconstrued and blown out of proportion in that article, which referred to the investigation of an incident that left Terris L. Ross, 23, of Fremont, dead and OU junior Nyerre A. Mays, 21, of East Cleveland, wounded.
Mayer said he was in disagreement with Warren because it was reported that Warren felt the investigation was not progressing, and no witnesses have been cooperative.
Warren said the article made it appear as if he felt the investigation had hit a dead end, which he said is not true.
