While Ohio University students were home for winter break over the past month, the Athens Bulldog basketball team was still on the hardwood.
The struggles the Bulldogs started the season with persisted. They won one game of the five played — a ten-point win against Nelsonville-York.
Not every loss was a blowout, with a two-point loss to Marietta and a one-point loss to Wellston, but improvement will be needed to turn the season around.
The Bulldogs currently sit at 3-9, but are 3-3 in the Tri-Valley Conference Ohio, only two games behind Vinton County (7-4, 5-1 TVC).
Moving forward, Athens will need to continue to improve, and use their out-of conference games to build confidence for conference games. That will start Tuesday night, with a game in Charles McAfee Gymnasium against Morgan. If the Bulldogs can win, it will help with confidence going into the weekend, a conference game against Meigs.
