Ohio running back Maleek Irons was arrested early Saturday morning after allegedly driving under the influence on Stewart Street, according to a police report.
Irons is currently charged with resisting arrest, obstructing official business and driving under the influence.
The Athens Police Department responded to the area of Stewart Street early Saturday morning to an intoxicated driver colliding with other vehicles. Irons then fled the scene, per the police report.
"The driver continued fleeing even after being ordered to stop by an APD officer," the report said. "Foot pursuit terminated near South Green Drive where an OUPD and APD officer apprehended the offender."
Irons was released on bond. His court date is set for Jan. 17 at 8:30 a.m.
Irons rushed for 439 yards on 95 carries this season, including five touchdowns. The redshirt sophomore split the bulk of the carries with Dorian Brown this season.
