For the first time since 1988, Ohio got the better of Toledo, beating the team Thursday night 31-26.
The win was the first for the Bobcats in Toledo since 1967.
Quinton Maxwell got the start for the Bobcats and despite being pulled in the second quarter for Greg Windham, went 7-for-16 for 159 yards. He finished with two touchdown passes.
Despite the quarterback inconsistency, there was one constant on the night — Dorian Brown.
Brown rushed for 212 yards on 29 carries and was the first Ohio running back with more than 200 yards rushing in a game since Chris Garrett against Miami in 2008.
With Brown's rushing attack, the Bobcats accounted for 512 yards on offense, including 269 yards on the ground.
The defense hung tough against the vaunted Toledo offense, holding Toledo in check for the majority of the first half. That Bobcats defense hung on just long enough and got one last stop to get the team's first win of the season.
Sebastian Smith, Papi White and Kyle Belack all caught touchdown passes on the night. Smith led the team with four receptions for 90 yards.
With the win, Ohio is now 6-3 and 4-1 in the Mid-American Conference. Ohio now leads Akron by one game in the MAC East.
A Thursday night matchup awaits Ohio, who will play Buffalo next Thursday.
Toledo entered the game 6-1.
