Treyce Albin is no longer the starting quarterback for the Athens Bulldogs.
After suffering a concussion in the third quarter in the game against Canal Winchester earlier this month, Albin did not dress for the game Friday night against Watkins, and Brendan Sano got the start.
This is the second consecutive year Albin has been sidelined. A year ago, he missed all season with an elbow injury and following one-and-a-half games this year, a concussion has sidelined him once again.
“The elbow thing was unfortunate but he’s worked his tail to get back from that,” said Tim Albin, the Ohio University offensive coordinator and Albin's father. “He’s a fighter and we’ll see what happens.”
Sano started the last game and played quarterback all last season before switching to defensive end. With sophomore Clay Davis still out, Sano will probably get the start again and most likely be named the starter for the rest of the season.
Athens plays at Alexander on Friday, kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
