Ohio University made a step toward a partnership with Athens today, when both the city and school appointed representatives to form a memorandum of understanding.
“We will begin our work very quickly and explore opportunities to improve the university and the city,” said Becky Watts, chief of staff to OU President Roderick McDavis.
The group will be responsible for creating an understanding, which will formalize agreements between the university and city, by December 31.
Ohio University representatives will include Watts; Vice President for Student Affairs Kent Smith; Associate Vice President for Facilities Harry Wyatt; Director of Engagement and Real Estate Management Donna Goss.
City representatives include Service-Safety Director Paula Horan Moseley, City Councilwoman Chris Knisely, Director of Engineering and Public Works Andy Stone and City Planner Paul Logue.
The first meeting of the group is still undetermined, Watts said.
“We will determine what is our best meeting time and how much time we will need between meetings,” Watts added.
